The B&B on 22nd West St, Chelsea. Quiet tree lined street.
The local all night grocery shop where I buy my bananas and melon.
Apartment prices seem reasonable. I could buy an apartment and spend the Spring and Fall in NY. Family and friends could house-share the rest of the year when the temperatures are too hot or cold. They could help subsidise the purchase.
THE BROOKLYN WALK:
The Empire State Building in the distance.
Getting ready for Halloween.
Church of the Pilgrims, Brooklyn.
A beautiful federation house, Brooklyn.
Pleasures seen on the walk through the streets of Brooklyn Heights.
Views from the Brooklyn Esplanade.
Many houses line the Esplanade. On the morning of 9/11 these residents must have thought it was all taking place in their front gardens. Frightening.
THE HARLEM WALK:
The famous ApolloTheatre where the jazz greats had their beginnings.
Downtown Harlem. Who would have thought that 30 yrs ago you would have been dodging bullets.
No guys this is NOT the real Spider-Man about to climb a brownstone. It's actually a blown up version. Tricked you.
The local wine bar in Harlem where I stopped for a drink (or two).
They are slowly renovating the old terraced brownstones of Harlem. The Manhattan wealthy are starting to move in.
While resting, watched the local lads play a game of basketball.
A long walk back home down Madison Av. Even the local flower shop has panache.
NEW YORK 51st FILM FESTIVAL:
Pleasure to attend 'A Tribute to Ralph Fiennes' including an on stage conversation (pity I missed the tribute to Cate Blanchard).
A highlight was a screening of the film 'Galaxy' at the AMC Loewe's 3D IMAX cinema on 34th St Midtown. As the promo states:
"The IMAX release of Gravity is digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of An IMAX 3D Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie."
A mind boggling experience watching the film in optimal visual and audio conditions - loud, surround and vibrating (and I had my phone vibration mode turned off).
The following is a rather technical clip focusing on the sound aspects.
